Studio: The Toolbar Panel

The Toolbar panel is the top-most bar in Nominal Studio and has access to all the key functionality for the Application. The toolbar will always be present in the window and will not be hidden at any point in the simulation or application lifetime.

File Options

In the top-left of the toolbar, there are a number of buttons that can be selected. Each button can be hovered-over with the mouse to view the tool-tip. From left-to-right:

  • Save: This will save the current simulation and the configuration to a save file. This .ns save file can be transferred between devices and can enable workflow of a simulation.
  • Load: This will open up a new save file from the file directory, which can reload a previous one or one that has been transferred from another device.
  • New: This will create a completely new simulation with the default configuration. This is equivalent to closing the Application and opening it up again.
  • Examples: This will open up a panel that displays all available example scenarios that are shipped with Nominal Editor.
  • Export: This will export all data from the simulation, including all components added, to CSV files, as found in the simulation database. This button is only available when the simulation has started.
  • Window: This will add in a new window to the application as a separate window.
  • Screenshot: This will save the current screen configuration of the application window to a PNG save file in the Downloads directory.

Simulation Controls

At the center of the toolbar window is the simulation controls. This includes the current time that the simulation is running for and buttons for playing, pausing and restarting the simulation. When the simulation is restarted, it will reset to the configuration that was set before the play button was first pressed.
